another “theme” in my sessions lately has been some pretty sweet older siblings. the nurturing, tender, “make sure you take plenty of pictures of me too” kind. i love it.
this lovely family is busy these days merging the worlds of blue & pink, of trains & flowers. some might think those things would clash, but it looks to me like they fit just perfectly.

it seems like i go in spurts of session “themes”…for awhile it’s weddings, then babies, etc, etc. this week it was one year olds. and i like to think that i’ve got a handle on one year olds, since i have one of my own. but my goodness, each one is so different! one thing that’s always the same, though, is that they move. whether they’re happy or sad, bold or shy, they are always. moving.

this one was hard to crack. she didn’t fall for any of the little tricks i keep up my sleeves. she wouldn’t smile…until she smiled and then it was unstoppable.
bethany wasn’t super keen on having her picture taken and i think she thought if she hid her face that i would stop snapping. she was wrong 🙂
she didn’t like to say good-bye, so we just said “see you later”…which i sure hope is the case!

this is the kind of session some people might have rescheduled. they really wanted to do pictures outside and it was definitely looking like rain. the sky was dark, clouds were heavy…and mom had been waiting for a good family picture for 20 years. but these guys were tough. hardcore. a little rain wasn’t going to scare them. so i put on my husband’s rain jacket and set out with my fingers crossed.
this beauty is the baby of the family and just left home for the UK for six months. she was the reason we rushed to fit these in, in spite of the crappy weather. side note: could these girls get anymore gorgeous?
and you might recognize these two lovelies on the right from their wedding last month. marriage looks good on them.
and so it was. a perfectly rainless session. “what’s with the water all over erin’s shoulders”, you ask? oh, i should have said “rainless until the last five minutes when we were walking back to the house and the heavens opened up and dumped a month’s worth of condensation only to stop the moment we got inside”. love living in bc!!!

if you didn’t see the first post from this lovely day, be sure to skip back. it’s too cute to miss.
one of the delightful bonuses of having a second shooter is that while i was taking the picture of alison below, chad was capturing duncan’s expression from another angle.
this wedding party was so so fun. i’ve been a part of some strange conversations in my lifetime, but some of the sound bites from these guys were pretty hysterical. i wish i could share, but alas, i’ve been sworn to secrecy. and this is a family show 🙂
duncan is into words. you should check out his blog. alison decided to play a little trick on him by manipulating him into saying a word that he hates. i had never seen duncan embarrassed before. but now i have. good one, mrs. priebe.
the ceremony was sweet and simple and beautifully lit as the sun set behind the couple through the walls of the greenhouse.
stay tuned for my most favorite part of the wedding day!

as i mentioned in my last post, marriage is on my mind. so what better time to highlight this lovely family who are all together celebrating lionel & lucille’s 50th anniversary. curious as to what 50 years looks like?
pretty darn cute, if i do say so myself.
so cute, in fact, lucille just couldn’t seem to get enough 🙂
