i could say a lot about these two. much of which you may hear when i shoot their wedding in a couple months. but what i will say today is that when i look at these images, i see love. not just the ooey gooey butterflies in your stomach feeling, but the real life “we have chosen each other and will continue to choose each other” kind of love. because things haven’t necessarily been easy for them and they don’t know what they future holds, but they are in it. together. and the way they look at each other, knowing that they are each truly and deeply loved, not in spite of their shortcomings, but because of their shortcomings…ooooowee. there’s nothing like it and to me, that is a kind of beautiful that you can’t even describe in words.

craig & laura are, in a word, adorable. and in another word, hilarious. craig is the king of smoulder and laura is literally bubbling over with joy. it’s so fun to see their playful approach to life and relationship.
and then we had a tea party. as one does on a sunny day in the woods down by the river.
you guys are a treat. so thrilled i get to document your wedding in august!

“please sir, i promise if the car starts to slip we will turn around”: my final plea. the mountain was closed because of a power outage. and it was snowing heavily. and i didn’t have chains. thankfully, he took one look at my minivan and my pathetic “i haven’t been out of the house without my kids in two weeks and i really need to make this engagement session happen today” face and let us through. and check it – so glad he did!
thanks for trusting me to get you up and down the mountain safely – and for trusting me with your wedding in june! so looking forward to it.

if there is one thing these two are going to do a lot of, it’s laughing. they laughed because they were uncomfortable having their picture taken. they laughed at chris’s awkward jokes. they laughed even as we were getting kicked out of a corn field. carry the laughter with you into marriage, chris and mallory. as friends of mine just said after being surprised that they were not only having a fourth child, but a fifth as well (twins!!), “sometimes all you can do is just laugh”. true dat.

i had the pleasure of being invited into erik & caitlin’s home to discuss their upcoming wedding and got to snap a few pictures in the process. pretty sure they speak for themselves about who these two are!

when i heard these two were getting married, i was silently praying “please pick me. please pick me.” and they did!! what a sweet sweet love story theirs is…i’m pumped to be able to document even a small portion of it.
i had been eyeing up this property for awhile and when bethany and jason showed up in their western attire, i knew it would be perfect.
if you know anything about their story, you will know that it begins with pie. to continue the legacy, they stopped off at the chilliwack airport coffee shop which is reported to have the best pie in the world and got one for the road.
we were approaching the end of our time together and i asked them if there was anything else they would like to do/try and bethany was like, “jason can do a backflip.” and you know what a sucker i am for theatrics…
you two are so delightful and i am tickled pink that i get to hang out with you again on what will be a beautiful summer day on harrison lake. can’t wait!

oh engagements. i have to tell you, they are my absolute favorite sessions to do. there’s something about engaged love that is totally unique…there’s that sense of anticipation mingled with a little tension and a lot of chemistry. it just can’t be replicated.
here are a few of my favorites (because i couldn’t possibly include them all) from this year:
engagement pictures can also really reflect the personality of the couple as they can dress comfortably and we can incorporate fun details of their relationship into the session. i’m so excited that the majority of my 2012 couples have chosen to do engagement pictures because it’s also a great chance for me to get to know them before the wedding and for them to get comfortable in front of the camera. can’t wait for the coming year!

on the way up to the golf course in chilliwack where we were going to do the shoot, i spotted this field on the right, overlooking the valley. too good, right?!
we finally made it to the golf course and jeff was like, “okay. hop in the golf cart and follow us”. um, how does one follow when one has never operated a golf cart?! needless to say it took me a few gos, but once i figured out how to drive while clutching my props, trying not to fall out/flip/run over anything or anyone, it was actually kind of fun. look for me on a golf course near you! not playing, just driving…
anyway…learning something new was totally worth it because check out the sweet things we found! we came across a sweet old dilapidated shack and these two were brave enough to climb in.
steph has done a ton of traveling, so the two of them sat down for a bit to talk about where they would like to take each other. let’s just say their tastes vary a bit, but hey, what’s marriage without compromise and adventure, right?!
