whether they started dating 8 or 9 years ago is kinda besides the point (though there was a heated discussion as to which it was the morning of the wedding). the point is that they spotted each other in middle school…cam was the new kid and in a small private school, everyone had their eye on him. but britney was determined. it didn’t take long and they were an item, one that would become much more than a preteen fling. they endured high school, survived being separated by distance in university, were engaged in versailles and now married in kelowna surrounded by family, long time friends and even some of their school teachers who remember watching their romance bloom. they are an incredibly gracious couple and i am so lucky they chose me to document their day!

while july 12th, 2014 was their wedding day, their story spans more than a decade. it all started when they were teenagers, both attending the same boarding school. they were friends and spent a fair bit of time together, but it didn’t progress much further than that. years passed, relationships came and went, maturity occurred and their paths crossed again at their ten year reunion. it was only then that sam realized all these years she had been comparing other guys to matt – none of them had all of the things she was looking for but him. i loved hearing their perspective, knowing that if they had tried to commit earlier on, it might not have worked. it took those years of growing up for them both to recognize what they needed and wanted and who it was that would fill that void. here’s to another few decades…together this time around. venue & caterer: fraser river lodge | wedding planner: erica mckeddie of filosophi events | decor: valley weddings | hair: jamie fox & dana parsloe | make-up: denise elliott | flowers: holly tree florist | band: side one

paulina & jamison.
their story is one of serendipity; chance connections, mutual friends, shared faith and a love for cats.
jamison had gone back and forth about how he wanted to propose and had all sorts of grand schemes in mind, but once he had the ring in hand, all of those plans fell to the wayside. he literally drove from the jeweller to the grocery store to buy out their flower department. he then proceeded to turn her apartment into a floral wonderland, remembering to lock the cat away in the bathroom, but forgetting that it was probably not a good idea to leave a vacant apartment with candles lit (details, details). paulina was giving him a haircut that afternoon and as he sat in the chair, the nerves started to rise and he could barely contain his excitement. when they got home and walked through the door, the tears started to flow and she agreed to be his wife.
when they decided to get married, they knew a couple of things: they wanted a beautiful backdrop and they wanted it to be small. so with their immediate families and a handful of their closest friends in tow, they headed to ucluelet to spend a few days together…not only to get married, but to visit, surf, relax, eat good food and celebrate in a way that was comfortable and beautiful and so connected.
jamison & paulina: married from Sharalee Prang. Music by Sleeping at Last.
