this one was a labor of love for me. pierre and carmen are two of the gentlest and kindest humans i have ever met. our paths first crossed a couple of years ago and every interaction i’ve had with them since, as individuals and as a couple, has been laced with a grace and peace which is hard to explain in words. this was evidenced on their wedding day as they chose to care for others before themselves (we practically had to force carmen into her dress because she was so busy helping everyone else) and even took the time to write personal notes to each guest, highlighting how their lives had been impacted by them. this day was a true celebration of where they’ve come from and where they’re headed.
p.s. for a glimpse back at the early days of this sweet couple, see if you can spot them as guests at beth and mark’s wedding, which was in the same venue 2 years ago!

18 years old, new to vancouver, adjusting to college life, bored on a field trip to the forest. “hot half asian guy” (her words, not mine) enters the scene and it was like a perfect storm. she admits to making the first move, but after 8 years together, he was still able to surprise her when he popped the question.
which brings us to squamish, home of beautiful mountains and good beer – both things sean & kirsten appreciate. the tone of the day was one of gratitude, for love and relationship and community…and good weather! such a fun one to be a part of. ceremony: pavilion park | reception: howe sound brewing company | bridesmaid dresses: made by mother of the groom | flowers: billie’s flower house | hair and make-up: devlin salon | mens’ suits: moore’s | second shooter: jayme anne photography

these two are so darn good looking, it would be really easy not to like them…if only they weren’t so darn nice too.
this match wasn’t love at first sight, though…brittany had to battle her way past the “little sister” label to try and gain dave’s attention and it took more than an valentines kiss to seal the deal. but the beauty here is that once they committed, they committed for life.
and commit, they did in this beautiful afternoon ceremony; honoring their parents’ role in guiding them through childhood, recounting their dating journey and looking forward to the days ahead. together. it wasn’t all serious, though, between armpit checks, butt grabs, a very melodramatic “i do” and a slightly unorthodox recessional song (ask me later) there was so much fun to be had. it was such a brilliant celebration!

a blind date gone terribly, terribly…right. 20 minutes in and sean was sold on this red headed sommelier, vowing that this would be the last first date he ever went on.
and what a way to celebrate, on sean’s parents’ beautiful estate, friends and family coming in from far and wide on a beautifully warm (ahem, hot) afternoon. freckles, cowboy boots, great wine, comfort food, a champagne sabre, cute kids and a rocking party into the night all under a big white tent.
thanks to all the wonderful vendors: venue: private estate | tent: classic party rentals | bouquets: thrifty foods morgan crossing | cupcakes: thrifty foods and tracycakes | dj: beyond sound | caterer: drew cooks | second shooter: lexa bergen

while july 12th, 2014 was their wedding day, their story spans more than a decade. it all started when they were teenagers, both attending the same boarding school. they were friends and spent a fair bit of time together, but it didn’t progress much further than that. years passed, relationships came and went, maturity occurred and their paths crossed again at their ten year reunion. it was only then that sam realized all these years she had been comparing other guys to matt – none of them had all of the things she was looking for but him. i loved hearing their perspective, knowing that if they had tried to commit earlier on, it might not have worked. it took those years of growing up for them both to recognize what they needed and wanted and who it was that would fill that void. here’s to another few decades…together this time around. venue & caterer: fraser river lodge | wedding planner: erica mckeddie of filosophi events | decor: valley weddings | hair: jamie fox & dana parsloe | make-up: denise elliott | flowers: holly tree florist | band: side one

i took their picture before i knew their names. for the average person, that’s a weird thought, maybe even creepy. for a wedding photographer, it’s pretty standard practice. I spend much of the day, when not fully trained on the bride and groom, scanning the room, searching for moments, connections, beauty to document. just so happened, ryan & brittin were that beauty on a hot summer wedding day last year. little did i (or they) know that a year later after that candid shot i took of them snuggling on a couch, i would be shooting their wedding on a less hot summer day.
so beware…maybe having me take your picture as a guest at a wedding will be the new “bouquet toss” omen…you’re next! venue: tanglebank garden | caterer: brambles bistro (the food was INCREDIBLE) | dress: everything but the groom | make-up artist: becky austin | bride’s hair: kevin hughes
